When string lily meets devil's shoestring, for mandolin orchestra

Crinum Americanum Nolina Lindheimeriana

Crinum Americanum Nolina Lindheimeriana

This short piece was composed in 2014 for the Austin Mandolin Orchestra.

String lily (Crinum Americanum) and Devil's shoestring (Nolina Lindheimeriana) are two kinds of “stringed” flowers. Both are liliaceæ that grow wild in Texas.

In this short piece, each kind of flowers is related to a specific theme, with both themes sharing the counterpoint of the piece. You can choose which is which!

In 2015, the Austin Mandolin Orchestra performed this piece, among a few others, during two concerts in Austin (Texas).
