XXS ricercar, for wind ensemble |
This short piece was specially composed for the Very Small Consortium who premiered it during a concert in Green Bay, WI, USA, in February 2016. The Very Small Consortium consists of a trumpet and a sax quartet. They specialize in miniatures and claim they do more with less.

In June 2023, flutist Beth Ratay recorded an arrangement, in C major, for flute ensemble, of the same piece. Beth Ratay recorded and assembled the five parts of the flute ensemble, i.e., a piccolo, two flutes and two alto flutes. To watch the corresponding video, click here.
