Jean-Pierre Vial especially composed this short piece for the Third Wheel Trio (Karin Kantenwein Fabiero, flute, Laura Stoutenborough, clarinet, Rebecca Rivera, bassoon) who premiered it in Glendale (Los Angeles), California, USA, in March 2017. Because the piece swings like a Venetian barcarola, and is dedicated to a trio of women, its name quite logically winks at the famous novel by Jerome K. Jerome. This is Three women in a boat recorded by the Third Wheel Trio in March 2017. (If the video does not show in your internet browser, try this link.) The one-minute piece is followed by other short pieces performed by the Third Wheel Trio during the same festival. The score of Three women in a boat, for alto flute, clarinet and bassoon, is published by Musicalion.
