Caprice in B# minor, for flute, bassoon and piano

Jean-Pierre Vial composed this short capriccio for the “B# Chamber Trio” (Ronda Benson Ford, flute, Emma Anderson, piano, Nicole Doran, bassoon), a trio who premiered it in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, in July 2024.

The caprice is actually (and quite logically) scored in B# minor but, to help instrumentalists perform it, the instrumental parts are scored in C minor, a key that sounds identically while being far less unusual.
