Les Touches Noires (the black keys)

This short piece, composed in 2025, uses a pentatonic scale. After initially composing the piece for two flutes (C flute and alto flute), in C major, Jean-Pierre Vial published more idiomatic a transposition, for the black keys of the piano, in F sharp major. The pentatonic scale evokes Asian melodies, and especially those of the Land of the Rising Sun.
