Christmas
Carol
Let
All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
Merry
Christmas to everyone
This piece is a
“swinging” arrangement, for choir,
organ and orchestra, of the Christmas carol “Let all mortal flesh keep silence”
by Ralph Vaughan Williams (in 1906).
The tune is based on the French carol “Jésus-Christ s'habille en pauvre,”
that probably dates back to the 17th century, reused in the French
song “Picardie” two centuries
later (in 1848).
